Resume Guidelines

Pinnacle Professional is one of many high-tech companies which use document scanning technology to quickly and efficiently select and route resumes to hiring managers. Because of this, we ask you to use the guidelines outlined below to prepare your resume.

Resumes are scanned into a database using optical character recognition technology. Our Human Resources Professionals regularly search this database to identify qualified candidates for open positions. Searches are done by keywords and phrases that describe the skills and education required for each opportunity.

Therefore, it is important that resumes include terms and familiar industry acronyms which describe your expertise and experiences.

A resume should summarize skills in a clear and concise manner. It should include basic information: header, objective, education, key courses/skills, work experience, honors, activities/interest, and work location preference(s).

Recommended length is 1 to 2 pages. Please do not send theses, dissertations, list of publications, references, etc.

All resumes submitted via paper must be original copy. They must be typed or computer generated and printed using a laser or letter quality printer. Please use 8 1/2" x 11" white or off-white paper.

To aid in the scanning process, place name and address at top of page in the following format:

Name

Street Address

City, State Zip

Telephone Number

Place most important address first

Avoid bold type

Avoid italics and script

Avoid underlining

Avoid bullets

Avoid graphics

Left justify text

Do not staple, bind, or fold the resume

Avoid unusual placement of information, i.e., vertical type in margins, addresses at bottom instead of top, etc.

Use at least 12 point type

Use sans serif typefaces, or crisp serif typefaces, including Helvetica, Univers, Arial, Times and Palatino
